Egyptian tourism boycott for reforms

How wonderful that the Egyptian dictator Mubarak has finally resigned. But there is considerable uncertainty about when and how a fully functioning democracy in which ordinary Egyptians, especially the poorest, the delivery is made. The restoration of the Egyptian economy and to ensure that not only benefits the existing upper class that supported Mubarak is a major challenge. Economic reforms are hardly speak of all those mentioned so much about the wonderful transformation in Egypt

A boycott of world tourism in Egypt is appropriate until it is absolutely clear that the revolution has succeeded and is fully achieved and economic reforms. The huge sums of money Mubarak and other stolen must be sought
Now is the time to send a clear message that there will be no renewal of tourism in Egypt, to send a crystal clear proof that real democracy and genuine elections were set up with a fairer economy . Then a huge wave of renewed tourism will be the reward. This should be an incentive, the new military dictatorship, in honor of the revolution seen. Everyone needs to remember that the military-backed Mubarak, one of them, and now about 10 to 15 percent of the Egyptian economy
The Government of the United States and other nations should immediately give administrative orders to prevent their citizens of all trips to Egypt until the establishment of a trustworthy government. Major tourism-related businesses should also be made; strong statements that travel and tourism industry will be terminated until the entire Mubarak regime is replaced, including his son and his buddies rich in the economy. "Corruption of the Mubarak family has not been stolen by the budget, it was the transformation of political capital by private capital," said Samer Soliman, Professor of Economics at the American University in Cairo
Global Financial Integrity estimates that illegal financial activities and government graft stole $ 57200000000 zwischen 2000 and 2008. Certainly, tourism was a source of the stolen money
Make no mistake about it. Tourism is vitally important for the Egyptian economy, which has been unjustly rewarded the Egyptian plutocracy. In 2010, nearly 11 billion dollars of revenue at 14.7 million tourists visited Egypt, reported the Egyptian Tourist Authority in New York. This number is about 11 percent of total GDP for the country. It is an extremely important source of foreign exchange. The sector employs about 12 percent of Egyptian workers. In my experience working in Egypt a few times, these figures underestimate the likely tourism spending. Because so much of the expenses of the cash economy, as underground money on guides, taxis, goods and souvenirs in small shops and street vendors has increased, and eating in restaurants. Tourists have also been generous with beggars in the streets everywhere
Before the outbreak of mass demonstrations against Mubarak, experts from Egypt expects growth of Qatar is only in the region. However, given that the forecast revised down from 5.4 percent of the originally planned this year, a growth of only 1 to 2 percent. But economic growth does not necessarily benefit employees, as history has shown
Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman said recently that about one million tourists flew from Egypt during the first nine days of events, leading to losses of about one billion dollars. Your return must be discussed carefully. Recovery of the stolen money to the Mubarak family and their friends should be a higher priority in the near future
In line with the apparent delusional thinking of Mubarak is expected that officials at the Office of Tourism in Egypt during the revolution, a rapid recovery of the national tourism industry as a result of political unrest. Now the world must send a clear message that the "mass departure of tourists," the agency in recent weeks is certainly not quickly recognized, for a reliable and strong democracy and reformed economy are established to be defeated
Of course, without tourism Egyptians suffer, but we must remember that even though tourism has flourished most Egyptian workers suffered economically. And they went their rebellion, knowing it would hurt financially. They thought in terms of long-term, and we must. Now we need to see a boycott of tourism in Egypt as a political statement and tactics, AIDS, and supports the brave citizens who sacrificed so much for their revolution
We hear much of this economy, as tourism to be restored quickly and that ordinary citizens have to want it. But the economic elites in Egypt supported and benefited from the Mubarak regime and siphoned off much of the wealth of the nation that tourism has helped to create. An urgent need for reforms in the economy and business community that save workers to participate in the prosperity. The rich pro-Mubarak elites who have businesses in tourism and not support the revolution, but began to advocate a return of tourists beware. First, show the world how economic inequality are eliminated in injustice
